Little Apple Goat by Caroline Jayne Church
This is the story of a very ordinary goat who had a not so ordinary love of eating apples, pears, and cherries from the orchard. In the fall, the goat waited for the fruit to fall from the trees and then he would feast on them and on the way home and spit out the seeds. One day, a big storm blows in and the orchard trees are all toppled by the wind. The goat is very sad. The next spring however, the goat notices some lovely plants growing. Remember all the seeds the goat spit out ? Some wonderful magic happens because of those seeds! This is a lovely book to read in the fall after apple picking and helps children make the connection between seeds and the lovely fruit trees we have around us.
